The video in question has gained a lot of attention for all the right reasons, and its implied backstory is quite moving.
In the video, Bert Edlin, Rachel’s grandfather, led the wedding procession while carrying a basket of flower petals and beaming with pride.
In a different Instagram post, Rachel explained why Bert’s attendance was so important to her, mentioning that the 95-year-old
had a challenging surgery the year before her wedding. He had a minimal chance of making a full recovery from the operation, according to Rachel.
‘Doctors told us recovery was slim and even if he did recover, he wouldn’t be able to walk, talk, or eat again,’ Rachel’s post stated.
He handed me a piece of paper with a letter that read, ‘I will make it to your wedding,’ during the time when he was unable to speak.
Bert completed months of physical therapy following surgery because he was determined to beat the odds and be present for his granddaughter’s special day.
Pitman said, ‘And that he did. Pitman stated, ‘In the most special way, WALKING down the aisle as my flower grandad.’
‘You’re the most determined person I know, and I feel so blessed to call you my Grandad,’ the speaker said.
